The mistakes that most delay people abroad
Sending the ID of the country you live in
A residence card, a European ID or a US driver's license do not count in ICP-Brasil. Dig out the Brazilian passport — and if it has recently expired, use a valid RG or CNH instead.
A cropped or glary photo
The agent must read every field. Photograph the open document, no flash, on a plain background, and check that the numbers are legible before sending.
A CPF with a pending issue
If the CPF shows “pending regularisation”, issuance cannot proceed. Check its status before booking; if something is pending, we point you to the route through e-CAC.
Choosing A1 and travelling without a backup
The A1 is a file. Anyone who changes computer or wipes the machine without exporting the certificate loses access and needs a new issuance. We save that warning for step 6.
Scenario: an engineer in Houston and an expired CNH
Real case
Illustrative scenario. A Brazilian petroleum engineer transferred to Houston needs an e-CPF to grant an electronic power of attorney to his accountant and reply to a notice on e-CAC. At step 3 he sends his CNH — expired two months earlier. Rather than closing the case, we ask for his Brazilian passport, which is current. The video call is booked for 7 pm Texas time, midnight in London, with the registration agent already scheduled for that slot. He opts for cloud A3 because he switches between the company laptop and his phone, and runs the e-CAC login test during the same call. — An expired document is the most common stumble; there is almost always another valid one in the drawer
Before you decide
“Will I have to get up in the middle of the night?”
No. Booking starts from your time zone, not ours. We agree a slot when you are free and have the document to hand.
“All my documents have expired”
Without a valid Brazilian photo ID, no RA can validate. In that case the first step is renewing the passport at the consulate; after that, issuance proceeds normally.
“Is it safe to send documents by WhatsApp?”
The documents serve validation and are handled under the LGPD. The certificate's password you never send to anyone — not even to us.
“Is it better than going to Brazil?”
Travelling to validate means a flight, days off and an appointment there. The six steps above fit into an ordinary week, without leaving home.
