Real case
Illustrative scenario. A Brazilian geologist working for a mining company in the Perth region spends alternate weeks in the field, with limited internet, and needs an e-CPF to sign the power of attorney for her mother's probate in Recife. With an eleven-hour gap, any Brazilian business hour lands in the middle of her night. In her first message she explained her roster; the session was set for a morning off in Perth, the small hours in London and the previous day in Recife, within an agreed window. She ran the camera test the evening before, at her flat, passport at hand, and validation took the expected time. Technical checklist for session day
- Original document in hand — no photos, copies or digital IDs on the phone.
- A charged device with a sharp front camera; computer or phone, whichever has the better image.
- Light coming from the front, not from behind; avoid windows at your back and dark rooms.
- A stable connection: prefer home wi-fi or the office network to mobile data on the move.
- A quiet place, with nobody else in the frame during the check.
- For an e-CNPJ, keep the CNPJ card and the latest amendment to the articles at hand, in case the agent needs to check something.
Before you decide
“I can't make Brazilian business hours”
You don't have to. Windows are built from your free periods, and the London base covers hours that would be the middle of the night in Brazil.
“My RG expired and I only have my passport”
A valid Brazilian passport is enough. If it has expired too, renew it at the consulate before booking the session.
“Can someone do the session for me?”
No. Validation is personal because the certificate attributes authorship to you. An attorney, spouse or accountant cannot stand in for you on the call.
“Isn't it simpler to visit an RA when I'm next in Brazil?”
Only if the trip is soon and the need can wait. Booking from where you are resolves this week's document with no flight and no queue.
