Illustrative scenario. A Brazilian nurse working at a hospital in east London is managing partner, together with his sister, of a small clinic in Campo Grande. The clinic needs to file an amendment to its articles with the commercial registry, and the system demands his signature with an e-CPF. He works shifts and would rather settle it in person on a day off than rely on the camera and connection in the room he shares. He writes on WhatsApp on a Tuesday, books the meeting for Thursday morning and brings his Brazilian passport. The check takes a few minutes; that same week, with the A1 installed, he signs the amendment in PAdES and his sister files it in Campo Grande. Appointments run on London time, during business hours and, by arrangement, in early-evening slots for shift workers. The gap to Brasília ranges between three and four hours over the year, which leaves the London morning overlapping the start of the day in Brazil — useful when an accountant, lawyer or partner there needs to join the same call. For those living outside the capital, video validation covers the whole United Kingdom: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, with no trip to London. Before deciding: questions from people in the UK
"I live far from the centre. Will you come to me?"
The meeting point is agreed case by case within Greater London. If the journey is not worth it for you, video validation delivers the same certificate.
"I only have my passport, and it expires soon."
It works, as long as it is valid on the day of validation. An RG or CNH within validity is also accepted; an expired document is not.
"I prefer in person for safety. Does it make a difference?"
In terms of validity, no. In terms of comfort, many people prefer to see the agent in person and ask questions before paying — and that is welcome.
"Is it better value than going to the consulate?"
The consulate does not issue ICP-Brasil certificates; it authenticates signatures and draws up paper powers of attorney, one act at a time. The certificate signs as many documents as you need throughout its validity.
