⚠️ Important notice
This is not a government website. Certificado Digital Global is a Registration Authority accredited to the Certisign network, a brand of Kindness in Business Consulting Ltd (UK Company No. 10386293), serving clients from London. Issuance depends on identity validation, documentation and ICP-Brasil rules. Do not send CPF, passport or sensitive documents via WhatsApp or the initial form.
O que é
Both signatures are legal, both are electronic, and both get called a “digital signature” in everyday conversation — but Law 14.063/2020 puts them on different levels, and notaries, banks and companies know it. This p…

The comparison table
Level under Law 14.063/2020
Advanced · Qualified
Identity basis
gov.br account (silver or gold) · Certificate issued after in-person or video validation by an RA
Legal presumption of authenticity
No express presumption · Yes — art. 10, §1 of Provisional Measure 2.200-2/2001
Where it is usually accepted
Public services and bodies that expressly accept the advanced level · In any act, including those requiring a qualified signature
Property transfer registered at a notary
Not accepted by law for that act · Accepted
Cost
Free · Paid certificate, valid for one to three years
Works for people living abroad?
Only with a silver or gold account — which depends on biometrics or a bank · Yes, with video validation and a valid Brazilian ID
Waives notarisation?
Depends on the recipient · Yes, through the presumption of authorship
When gov.br is enough
Requests to public bodies
Forms, declarations and applications inside federal platforms that accept the gov.br advanced signature, as many services on the portal itself do.
Private documents where the parties accept the advanced level
If the parties agreed to use the gov.br signature and the act doesn't demand a qualified one, it holds between them — the law lets the parties set the level.
Low-risk acts with no registration
Simple authorisations, acknowledgement forms and everyday declarations where nobody will dispute authorship.
When only the certificate will do
Higher-stakes acts named in the law
Law 14.063/2020 reserves the qualified signature for acts such as property transfers registered at a notary. gov.br is not accepted there.
The recipient demands a certificate
Banks, notaries, commercial registries and many firms require ICP-Brasil as internal policy, even where the law would allow less.
Documents that might be disputed
Significant contracts, powers of attorney and settlements benefit from the presumption of authenticity in Provisional Measure 2.200-2: authorship is presumed, and whoever disputes it carries the burden of proof.
Systems that only open with a certificate
Some portals and professional council systems authenticate exclusively through ICP-Brasil, with no gov.br option.
What changes for people living abroad
For someone in Brazil, the comparison is free versus paid. For someone living abroad, the maths is different: the gov.br signature depends on a silver or gold account, and the routes to those levels — facial biometrics matched to the CNH or electoral database, or bank validation with a Brazilian mobile number — frequently fail outside the country. The ICP-Brasil certificate, by contrast, is issued by video call with a valid Brazilian ID, needs no biometrics and, as a bonus, grants gold level on gov.br when used to log in. In practice, many expats end up with both: the certificate as the main tool and gov.br as a by-product.
Not sure what your document requires? Confirm which signature I need
Before deciding
“If one is free, why pay?”
Because the free one doesn't cover the acts that cost most when they go wrong: property, powers of attorney, significant contracts. The certificate is insurance against rejection.
“Does my time zone make the video call hard?”
The session is booked at a time that works for you; the team sits in London and serves many time zones.
“Does an expired ID rule me out?”
Validation requires a valid Brazilian passport, RG or CNH. If any one of them is current, issuance proceeds.
“Is the certificate secure?”
Only you hold the private key and password; the RA never knows them. If you lose access, the certificate is revoked and a new one issued — nothing signed earlier loses validity.
Transparent pricing
Unlike gov.br, the certificate has a cost — but it covers every act, including those the advanced signature can't reach, for one to three years depending on the model.
A1 and A3 are priced differently, as are the validity periods; the final number arrives on WhatsApp once we understand your use.
